The Tungnath–Chandrashila Trek is one of the most scenic and spiritually enriching Himalayan treks in Uttarakhand. Located in the Rudraprayag district, this trek takes you to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, followed by the Chandrashila Summit, standing at an altitude of around 13,000 ft.

This trek is famous for its breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath Peak, and Bandarpunch. Best Time to Trek Tungnath–Chandrashila

The best time to do the Tungnath–Chandrashila Trek is from March to June and September to November. These months offer pleasant weather and clear mountain views. Winter months (December–February) are perfect for snow lovers, though the trek becomes more challenging due to heavy snowfall.

Day1 : Rishikesh / Haridwar – Chopta

Arrive at Rishikesh or Haridwar and drive to Chopta, also known as the “Mini Switzerland of India.” Enjoy scenic mountain views during the journey. Upon arrival, check into the campsite or hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Chopta.

Early morning, start trekking from Chopta to Tungnath Temple. Continue further to the Chandrashila Summit for panoramic Himalayan views. After spending time at the summit, descend back to Chopta. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you can visit Deoria Tal (optional), a beautiful high-altitude lake known for crystal-clear reflections of Himalayan peaks. Return to Chopta by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

After breakfast, drive towards Sari village and then to Rudraprayag or Ukhimath. Check into the hotel and relax. The evening is free for rest or local sightseeing. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive back to Rishikesh or Haridwar, marking the end of the Tungnath–Chandrashila Trek.
