This is one of the best times to trek as the snow starts melting, revealing lush meadows and vibrant flora. Day temperature ranges between 10°C to 20°C and can drop to 5°C at night. Clear skies and blooming flowers make it ideal for photography.
2. Post-Monsoon & Autumn Season (September to October)Post-monsoon brings lush green surroundings and crisp air. Day temperature varies between 8°C to 18°C and drops to around 2°C at night. Trekking conditions are favorable with minimal rainfall.
3. Winter Season (November to April) – Not RecommendedThe nearest airport is Jubbarhatti Airport (Shimla), around 150 km from Janglikh. From the airport, hire a taxi or take a bus to Rohru and then proceed to Janglikh.
2. By TrainThe nearest railway station is Shimla Railway Station, about 140 km from the base camp. From Shimla, travel to Rohru by bus or taxi and then continue to Janglikh.
3. By RoadThe most convenient route is via Shimla – Rohru – Janglikh. From Shimla, buses and taxis are easily available to Rohru (110 km). From Rohru, a local vehicle takes you to Janglikh (20 km).
Total trek distance is approximately 18–20 km, completed in 3–4 days. Each day involves steep ascents and moderate descents.
2. Terrain ChallengesThe trail passes through dense forests, meadows, rocky terrains, and glacial zones. The final ascent to the lake is steep and challenging.
3. Altitude Gain & AcclimatizationThe trek starts at Janglikh (2,800 m) and ascends to Chandranahan Lake (4,200 m / 13,800 ft). Proper acclimatization is essential to avoid AMS.
Spend a day at Janglikh before starting the trek. Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol or smoking.
4. Nutrition & SnacksCarry dry fruits, energy bars, ORS packets, and high-carb meals.
Always check the weather forecast and avoid trekking during heavy rain or snowfall.

The 5-6 hour ascent leads to Litham Thach, where you’ll be greeted by the majestic Chandernahan Waterfall. Enroute, visit the newly formed Mundar Lake before returning to Litham. Set up camp near the roaring waterfall, surrounded by stunning Himalayan vistas. Overnight in tents amidst nature’s symphony.
