About Us
Kuari Pass trek was explored in 1905, by the British viceroy of India Lord George Curzon, By his name Kuari Pass is also known as “Curzon Trail.”Giving trek both natural beauty and historical significance. Located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, the trails towards the summit pass through Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, crossing through dense Oak and rhododendron forests. Kuari Pass trek height is 3,650 meters (12,000ft). From the summit, we can see the most famous Himalayan Mountains like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Hathi Gori Parvat, Kamet, Chaukhamba, Dronagiri, and Neelkanth.
Best Time to Trek Kuari Pass
The Kauri Pass trek is accessible for 10 months except during the Monsoon season when the trails get wet and slippery due to heavy rainfall. The Kuari Pass trek best time is from October to December (autumn to early winter) and January to March (winter to early spring). During these months the weather is clear and enjoyable.
1. Winter to Spring (January to May)
Temperature- As January and February are the peak winter season in which the temperature drops down from -4°C to 14°C and by March to May the snow begins to melt and the temperature rises up to 18°C to 24°C, but night remains still cold.
In winter the famous Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dunagiri, Hathi Gori Parvat, Kamet, Chaukhamba, Dronagiri, and Neelkanth shine brightly and give a crystal clear view. All the peaks and trails are covered in snow. Even the forests of Oak and Pine trees draped in snow. Winter season is perfect for Snow fights. As we trek through Khulara meadows and Gorson Bugyal powdery snow falls from the pine branches, and the sun glitters on the fresh snow giving a heartwarming, and soothing experience.
2. Autumn to early Winter (October to December)
Temperature: October and November provide crisp and clear days as the temperature ranges from 10°C to 14°C, in December the first snowfall started to cover the trails.
As the Autumn season starts it brings clear skies. The meadows of Khulara, Gorson Bugyal, and Chitrakantha glow in hues of gold. The skies in the autumn are the clearest of the entire year. In this season as we are moving toward winter we should remember that now nights are going to be longer than days.
How to Reach Pipalkoti/Joshimath
1. By Air
Jolly Grant airport(DED) Dehradoon located approximately 272–279 km away. It connects to Delhi with daily flights. From the airport, it is a 9–11 hour drive to Joshimath.
2. By Train
The nearest railway station is Rishikesh is the nearest railway station for Pipalkoti. Rishikesh railway station is situated 219kms before Pipalkoti on NH58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India.
3. By Road
The most popular route is via Meerut, Haridwar, and Rishikesh, leading you through the scenic hills of Uttarakhand. You can also make a pit stop and enjoy the experience of trekking via the Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath routes.

Kuari pass trek difficulty level is considered an Easy to moderate trek – which is perfect for beginners who have a basic fitness level because it is a complete trek of 33km in 6 days. How to Prepare for Kuari Pass Trek
1. Physical Fitness
- Start cardio exercises at least one month before the trek.
- Strengthen legs with squats, lunges, and step-ups.
- Build endurance with long walks and short hikes.
2. Packing Essentials
- Layered clothing, waterproof jackets, and thermals
- Sturdy trekking shoes with good grip
- 40–50L backpack with rain cover
- Trekking poles, gloves, headlamp, sunglasses
3. Acclimatization & Hydration
Spend a day at Janglikh before starting the trek.
Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol or smoking.

Day1 : Reach to Joshimath
Breakfast and lunch during the journey will be at roadside inns and are to be borne by the individuals. Upon reaching Pipalkoti/Joshimath, you will be accommodated in a guest house or hotel. After settling in, enjoy dinner at the property, followed by a brief introduction and orientation session with your trek leader and fellow participants.
Day2 : Joshimath to Gulling Campsite
After breakfast, a short drive takes you to Tugasi Village, the trek starting point. From here, a gentle uphill trail through local villages and forest patches leads you to Gulling campsite. Enjoy views of Mt. Dronagiri en route.
Day3 : Gulling Campsite to Khullara Campsite
Start your day with breakfast at the Guling campsite. Afterward, begin the trek towards the Khulara campsite. On arrival, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch followed by an acclimatization walk to help your body adjust to the altitude. Wrap up the day with a warm dinner and rest for the night.
Day4 : Khullara Campsite to Kuari Pass
The summit day! Start early to reach Kuari Pass. The trail is steep in sections but rewarding. From the top, witness jaw-dropping panoramic views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Kamet, Dronagiri, and Hathi-Ghoda. Return to Khulara for the night.
