Dayara Bugyal Trek
About Us
When trekking started, in the initial stages the focus was mostly on summit peaks and glacial lakes at high altitudes. At that time the mindset of trekkers was like that there should be something at the end of the trek but after some research and by changing the mindset we got to know about Bugyals trek (meadow treks) or trek to meadows, open vast, high altitude meadows.
In Gangotri National Park there is an open vast meadow named as Dayara Bugyal covering 28 sq. km at 12,000ft in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The trek creates an excitement among the trekkers as it starts from Natin/Raithal village and then after passing through the forests of pine, maple, oak, and rhododendrons the landscape suddenly opens up to a high, vast meadow.
While trekking to Dayara Bugyal, you can see majestic Himalayan peaks such as Danda 2.
Best Time to Trek Dayara Bugyal
1. Summer Season (May to June)
As summer season starts the snow melts away and the Bugyals (Meadows) completely turn into a green valley and blooms with flowers. Summer is best for Families, kids as there is no technical section. Summer season is also known as the most beginner friendly season for Dayara Bugyal Trek.
2. Post-Monsoon & Autumn Season (September to October)
Once the monsoon slows down the skies get crystal clear. The meadows wear golden hues. The trail is dry and filled with crunches of dry leaves. The landscape of Dayara Bugyal is so still and calm and peaceful- that this kind of serenity is rare to find in any other season.
3. Winter Season (November to April)
In winter season Dayara Bugyal gets draped into white powdery snow. December and January are the best months to trek with ideal temperatures of 8°C – 12°C in day and night with -5°C – -10°C temperature. Perfect time to experience snowball fights and to experience snowfall.
